I have briefly mentioned earlier about ribbons and angel cards. These are all devices that allow guides or spirit helpers to get a message across to us. The important element of any device is that there is a possibility for guides to have an influence in the choice of a particular card ribbon or stone. Many people use tarot or other cards at home to aid in decision making or to shed light on a future incident. This is good practice as familiarization with a set of cards means that the symbols and meanings are stored very much like a dictionary. Guides can then use the understanding we have to illuminate their thoughts in a language that we understand. I used to use the I Ching at home but it confused me more than guides did. I ignored my feelings that they were not a good medium for me and soldiered on until I received a message in circle that said very bluntly that I was confusing myself with words. I stopped using them and my confusion left. The problem was that I was consulting the cards for all sorts of things, digesting the information but not acting on it. I only use them rarely now to confirm some ideas I have been given from another source.
Cards in a circle situation always seem to have more meaning for me personally and are great for working with other people. Choosing a card and digesting the affirmation or meaning and then swapping with someone else for them to see what message it suggests to them about our situation allows different energies to comment on a particular card. The fact that the person receiving the insight has held the card means that his or her vibration is on that card which aids the process. The same method applies to ribbons, runes and flowers.
Psychometry is strictly finding out the history of an object and the people who have been in contact with it but it can be used in a similar way to that of the card above. Rather than finding out the history of the object, the object becomes a focus for us to receive inspiration or a message for the person it belongs to. Having an object in our hand allows us to tune into the vibrations.
The reason that these devices are so useful is that we are forced to concentrate on something rather than letting our minds drift. When learning to meditate and contact spirit it can de hard to pick out our own thoughts from those from guides, so the device occupies the conscious mind allowing the spirit to get on with receiving information. Crystals, having their own energy can be a very powerful tool used in this way.
